Chin reshaping. Chin remodeling with hyaluronic acid.
The chin is a very important structure, occupying a central place in the lower facial floor. This area is often neglected, but properly treated can lengthen the face, improve its projection in the sagittal (anterior-posterior) plane, as well as emphasize the femininity or masculinity of the face. All this makes procedures like remodeling of the chin and mandible extremely desirable.
Insufficient profile projection is the most common indication for this type of intervention. It is most often due to underdeveloped bone structure. In the era before dermal fillers, this correction was the subject of plastic surgery and orthodontics, and the realization is a painful, long and painful process. With the entry of hyaluronic fillers in medical practice chin reshaping becomes painless, with no recovery period and takes about 20 minutes, and the results are impressive.
In many patients, there is wrinkling of the skin in this area or the presence of a pronounced arcuate groove between the chin and the upper lip. This is due to the increased activity of m. mentalis. In such cases, it is appropriate to place botulinum toxin in the chin. Pre-relaxation of the muscle with the help of Botox significantly prolongs the duration of the applied filler.
When it is necessary to put fillers in the chin
- congenital microgenia (a condition in which the chin is small compared to the rest of the face)
- asymmetry in the chin area
- insufficient profile projection
- in case of disturbed facial proportions
- to lengthen the face
- when modeling the facial contour
- hyperactivity of m. mentalis
How is chin remodeling done
The shaping of the chin is preceded by a detailed aesthetic consultation, through which the facial features are established. The correction aims to reach the ideal facial proportions, which are different for women and men. The face is examined both face to face and in profile. With the help of fillers we can achieve correction in both the frontal and sagittal planes, ie. to widen or lengthen the chin.
After conducting a comprehensive assessment, proceed to the technical implementation of the procedure. Depending on the case, both a needle and a cannula can be used. In most cases, analgesia is not even necessary because most of the fillers used have a small amount of lidocaine, which numbs the area after the first injection. If necessary, however, you can resort to anesthesia in the form of a cream or dental block. The product is injected on the bone or in the deep layers of the skin. An energetic massage follows. The procedure takes about 20-30 minutes and the effect lasts about 8-12 months.
Bruises and hematomas rarely occur in this area. If they do occur, the characteristic is that they become visible 2-3 days after the procedure, and their color is blue-green. There may be a slight swelling that will go away in a few days, as well as a feeling of bruising. Anesthesia is not necessary. Do not massage the treated area unless specifically instructed to do so. Stop visiting solariums, saunas, steam baths in the next few days. It is important to drink more water - about 1.5-2 liters to develop the full potential of the filler.

Review of Dr. Stavrov, aesthetic dermatologist in Sofia
Chin modeling is undoubtedly one of my favorite procedures because it significantly changes a person's appearance. There are proportions between the nose, lips and chin that must be observed for a harmonious look. Therefore, any correction in any of the listed areas requires re-analysis and assessment of facial proportions.Dr. Konstantin Stavrov, co-owner of Dr. Stavrov Aesthetics clinic in Sofia
