The virus is transmitted by direct contact, which is the reason for distinguishing the following risk groups:

Molluscs are small, rounded buds with a diameter of a few millimeters to a centimeter. Their color is pink or whitish, and there is a slight depression in the middle. They may be singly or in groups of several. Typical locations are the armpits, abdomen, and groin, but other areas may also be involved. It can be transmitted from one part of the body to another by scratching and shaving.
In children with atopic dermatitis or in immunosuppressed adults, multiple lesions (even more than 100) involving the face, neck and whole body are observed. In these cases, home treatment of molluscum is not possible, but systemic therapy and possibly hospitalization is required.
Treatment of Mollusks
The virus is located in the most superficial layer of the skin, which makes it possible to be successful home treatment ot of Mollusks. For this purpose, creams and gels with a destructive effect are prescribed, which are applied according to a scheme. Their use is not painful and within days leads to the removal of mollusks.
In case of multiple lesions, the appointment of immunostimulating therapy is appropriate. In such cases, home treatment most often does not give results and a visit to a specialized center is necessary to remove the formations with appropriate equipment. The most modern method is with an ablative CO2 laser.
